Over the moon
Had a very early morning walk on Saturday.
The moon was huge against the western horizon.
Not a great picture but you get the point.
Someone who has access to a basketball net
And a great imagination
And a sense of timing
And some patience.

Corrie Ten Boom
Martin has been reading 'The Hiding Place".
I read it years ago but should read it again.
A powerful story.

Ellen
I am a fan of the Ellen Show on television.
She exemplifies kindness and funny.
We can mindlessly watch tv to be entertained
but I never feel like it was a waste of time
to have Ellen on at 4 while I prepare supper.

I am working on it
I have the most amazing amount of storage in this house.
Shelves and cupboards and closets.
The basement has become a catch-all for the things that do not have a home.
And for the past little while the two sorting tables were covered with stuff to be sorted.
Had something that I wanted to use on New Years Day
that I thought was somewhere on the tables.
But I couldn't find it when I wanted it.
Too much stuff.
An impetus to action.
So now I am working on it.
Started last week.
We will see how long it takes me.
Hopefully 'after' pictures to follow.

gratitude week 12
Supposed to pick my favourite personality trait.
I am assuming it is supposed to be my personality that I am favouriting.
I went looking for a list of personality traits.
I decided to eliminate the negative ones Negative Traits (292 = 46%)
and the neutral ones Neutral Traits (292 = 18%)
I will, instead, concentrate on the positive trait list.
This is what I have to choose from
Positive Traits (234 = 37%)

Books I have Read in 2015 Part 2
Fun read that sometimes made me feel smart
and other times made me feel dumber than a bag of rocks
I am a big fan of Penn Jillette.
He is an atheist that I have learned much from and,
perhaps it would be to his chagrin,
but he has made me a better Christian.
I think that Christians would do well to listen to atheists.
We have much to learn and a long way to go.
This book was on my list for years and years.
Finally read it and it was good.
Made lots of notes in my copy.
They studied it at the Women's Bible Study at church and
it would have been worth it to attend.
Lucado is always a good read.
Another one for the Discipleship Resource Center.
Read one of her books and might feel like
if you read one of them you have read them all.
Mostly the same sort of stuff.
But it is good stuff. Encouraging for the most part.
Oprah Book Club pick.
An easy read about a difficult story.
True story which was quite fascinating.
Made me think about what I would do
had I been given difficult circumstances as well.
This self published young author knows my brother.
I had a look at the pre-published manuscript.
It made me realize that when reading
I can tell when something is not quite right - editing wise.
But I don't always know what it is.
The sentence may be too long or there was a grammatical error.
But that did not interfere at all with the story.
Written for a younger audience but it still kept my interest.
I thought this first time author did a pretty good job.
Another Oprah book club pick.
Took a lot of words to tell a small story.
Did like it but thought it was a touch too predictable.
Another Discipleship Resource Center selection.
One that I probably enjoyed reading but I cannot,
for the life of me, remember a thing about it.
Another Discipleship Resource Center selection.
I can't remember much about this one either.
But I think that I made notes on it.
I liked Rick Warren's spin on the Christmas story.
He takes the gospel and presents it in a simple but meaningful way.
Again, I made notes but I can imagine that I might even refer to them in the future.

Books I Have Read in 2015 Part 1
Here are the books I read in 2015
Good book. Always enjoy Patsy
Apparently I spend too much time in the bathroom
Always enjoy Albom as well
Briscoe is a thoughtful author.
Enjoyed the personal stuff as opposed to the teaching about money stuff
Same for this one. Personal story was fascinating.
Met John and really enjoyed this one
as I knew, rather the well, the woman that he was writing about.
His mother attended our church for years and
it was a joy to get to know a woman
who I will describe as a pillar of the community.
She made our church a better place.
The story of her decline in health was a
very close personal look at the loss of a mother.
Carol writes a deeply personal story about a terrible time in her life.
I love that I can enter into someone else's tragedy and learn and grow from it.
Just some thing that I wanted to read
before I put it out
at the Discipleship Resource Center at church.
I do believe it would be a good read for young moms.
Nora delights as always.
