really? 2014? really?

Well the Christmas season has come and gone and so has New Years.
I never did get a Joldersma Family Newsletter out.
I didn't even make a "I-know-it-is-after-New-Years-already-but-I-finally-got-around-to-it-so-better-late-than-never-newsletter"
C'est la vie

This will have to do - although I am pretty sure that only two people read my blog.
Chirstmas was a busy time.
We had an ice storm on the night of the 21st. Tree branches down and a bunch of people without power. Our church even cancelled the morning service of the 22nd. But the evening candlelight service was still held and I had a part in the service. I played the innkeepers wife and had about a page of dialogue to remember. Looking back at it I realize that I challenged myself to do something new but really didn't enjoy the nervousness that I felt for the couple of hours beforehand. I didn't know that I could have sweaty palms and a dry mouth and palpations and butterflies all at the same time but then I also discovered that those things do not kill me. It seemed to go well but I don't know that I will be subjecting myself to anything like that again any time soon.
That morning had been Shirley and Isabel's birthday party and in the afternoon Ken and Anne and the kids came to stay until their power was turned back on which ended up being late Christmas Eve. Which meant that they couldn't go back home until Boxing Day because they had no food in the house. It was fun to have Ethan and Moriah here.
We had the Eleveld family over and that was nice. Still doesn't feel the same without the Mussche clan there but our families are just getting too big for one house. The day is so different than even a few years ago with so many little children running about the place. My favourite part of the day was preparing the food with Jennifer who came early.
By the end of the week I had a sore throat that developed into quite a cough. That lasted about 2 weeks and I still have coughing fits every once in a while. Nice thing about it was that even though I had completely unsuccessful nights sleeps I still felt fine. I wasn't particularly tired and was able to still do things.
New Years Eve was spent at the church's year end service and then onto my parents place (along with Barb and Verllie and Owen and Ann and Julie) that was fun and I even got two croquettes out of the deal.
New Years Day we maintained a tradition that we started a few years back. All of our kids (who can make it) show up for some ordered Chinese food.
Just about when I felt better Mart started feeling lousy - of course just on time for his birthday - which we really did not end up celebrating.
I had my interview for funding for Home with a Heart and hope that it will prove successful. I did get some funding for some future HWAH events and looking forward to seeing where God is leading the program.
This weekend we have Alexander and Isabel from Thursday until Tuesday. They are actually quite well behaved and they seem to be having fun still.
One of my favourite moments was when I was in the bathroom and coughing a bit. Isabel laid on the floor outside of the bathroom and said "Grandma, are you ok in there?" I said yes and she said, "Do you need me to come in to help you?"
About the time they were dropped off my Dad was taken to the hospital with heart issues again. It has been about 15 years since his quadruple bypass and they are going to try to fix him up again.
Visited him today for a little bit. Praying that God grants healing.

So that is some of the past month.
Hoping for a calmer and quieter next month...
