but probably not here

for one - I am not a big fan of being under water
for two - not a big fan of snakes
for three - not a big fan of snakes under water
for four - not a big fan of me with snakes under water

and here

When I think of forest walks I think of bugs
which bug me
so I like the walks best in the spring and the fall
before the bugs come out and after they are gone.

Still this view might be worth a bug or two.

I want to go there

One day.
I don't know when but
one day.

finger star

I have no idea what the words say
don't know that I want to
I like what these three people were able to do with their fingers.

Star light star bright
first star I see tonight
I wish I may
I wish I might
have the wish I wish tonight.

Back to Survivor for a minute.

Two other things to say about Survivor.
First - the players I usually root for are the men
but that doesn't mean I don't like rooting for the women.
I have had a few favourites along the way.

 Dawn

and
 Elisabeth

Second, is that
I usually root for ones who deserve to win.

The deservinest one was Ozzie and
I don't know that he did.

Ethan did win during his season
so sometimes I do pick the right one to root for.

And that's all I have to say about that.

Celebrity Apprentice

Another of my favourite shows to watch
this past season was Celebrity Apprentice.
Usually there is a celebrity or two that I find it fun to watch
and this season did not disappoint.

While there was no Meatloaf there this season to watch
(I loved the season with John Rich - who won)

I was able to watch another guy I was rooting for
make it to the very nearly there end.

I was rooting for Penn Jillette.
A magician who plays Vegas.
A business partner for decades with Teller.

What I like best about him is his way of expressing himself.
He was especially eloquent after the Sandy Hook shootings
when he was talking the truth about the mentally ill.
His style is low key and yet you can tell he is very bright.
He is someone who I am sure I could learn things from.

He, of course, did not win.
Trace Adkins did.
I say 'of course' because of my proclivity to root for the one that ends up losing.
It happened with Survivor.
It happened with the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Stanley Cup playoffs
(when they lost game 7 after being ahead near the end of the game)
Good thing I am not a betting gal.

survivor fan

Last blog I wrote about the last season of Survivor.
Outwit - Outplay - Outlast
A game of strategy and social skills.
Good vs. evil
Meltdowns
Challenges and immunity.
All interesting concepts.

I don't know when I became a fan
but I did not see the first number of seasons.
Years ago my friend Tena told us
that she saw Rupert in the hotel that we all were staying at
and I figured I should know just who she was talking about
and so I started watching the next time a season started.

 Rupert

another favourite Survivor player was Boston Rob

But if I am going to be honest about it all...
I really just wanted an excuse to post another picture of Malcolm
...who is probably young enough to be my son...
but who cares because he is such a cutie patootie.

It was a flimsy excuse, I know,
but no one really reads this blog anyways...

sigh

survivor

I enjoyed watching this past season of Survivor.
I had wanted Malcolm to win and he didn't.

They voted him out. : (

But not before he made one of the most unexpected Survivor moves ever during the tribal council.

The two guys he was aligned with were very much on the chopping block and the three of them were getting ready to get voted out one at a time. One of the guys had an earned immunity idol and Malcolm found a hidden idol in front of some others. But Malcolm also had another hidden idol that he had found earlier and he was able to give that one away so the third guy would not get any votes against him. Shocked faces all around and a scrambling shift of a vote that had been previously been a lock.
But the three of them were safe for another week. It was a fun season to watch.

But the underdog all along was Cochran.
The nerdish geek who was a huge fan of the show
who actually got on the show then
got voted off and then
got on the show again and then
fought like the dickens and won.

Once of my favourite lines of the season came from Cochran..
During a food challenge Eddie bought a giant bowl of peanut butter the entire tribe had 60 seconds to share. They went absolutely crazy over the peanut butter and literally took handfuls back to camp. Sherri even let Cochran lick some off her finger.
Jeff asked, “How often does that happen?”
Cochran replied, “More often than you think.”

Way to go dude

mothers day

It was Mothers Day yesterday.
All of my kids were over for lasagna in the afternoon.
My Mom and Dad were over at the same time.
Lots of people in the house but it was alot of fun.
I feel very blessed.

One of my favourite mother/brother pictures
taken a couple of years ago
but it still manages to make me smile.

egg-actly

I got a little distracted today and did not get the work I had intended to do done.
But sometimes our interruptions carry with them their own importance.
Movin' on.

bike it or not

I do enjoy the optical illusion pictures that are out there.

This one looks particularly cool.

Were you smart?

A long time ago Martin met with an old schoolmate of mine.
It had been many years and
they were trying to figure out
if I was the same person that Don had remembered.
It went something like this...

"I went to school with your wife, Anita, right?"
"Yes."
"Her last name was Eleveld?"
"Yes."
"She had dark hair?"
"Yes."
And then Don said, "she was really smart?"

Martin paused, reflected and then said...
"no, nope, don't think it was her"

He later came home and asked me, "Were you smart?"
I replied with the obvious, "Yes"
Then my charming husband said, "No, really"

'nuff said

a wooly good idea

A wooly good idea
