Rest in Peace Maya Angelou

I found the book I Know the Caged Bird Sings a number of years ago
I read it and was touched by it. Maya Angelou was the perfect example of someone who was able to recreate her life.
From her name to her voice.
With her passing I know that
an inspiring voice on this planet is now silent
but we have many of her words
from poetry to prose.
She will be remembered.

When I say... "I am a Christian" by Maya Angelou

“When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin'."
I'm whispering "I was lost,
Now I'm found and forgiven."

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
And need His strength to carry on.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
And need God to clean my mess.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
But, God believes I am worth it.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
Who received God's good grace, somehow.”

with an explaination

While I believe that the sentiment in the above picture is humorous
and had quite the chuckle at it....

When picking at this picture I planned to crop part of the text out.
I am not fond of the last word written.
I never did crop it though....

Maybe I want to be reminded that people who use those types of words exist.
It is a reminder to me to use my words more carefully.

babysitting

I will occasionally take care of my grandkids.
My resume looks a tad better than the one above.

grow grow grow

I don't have a garden this year.
Actually it has been a few years.
One day I will get back to it.
But it won't be this year.
I can hardly keep the indoor plants alive.
What chance do I have while battling the elements
as well as my lack of memory to water the poor drooping things.
The pictures below make me want to try though.

 Maybe one day

something about mothers and glitter

a nice piece

I don't really drink
but I could

I think that, for me, my children are my glitter.
And, all told, Martin and I have left some mighty fine glitter out there for the world.

yesterday

No this will not be a review of the iconic Beatles song.
I am reporting in about yesterday. The day before today.
I said yesterday that I would report (on that day) how the day went.
I did not get back on the computer until today
so cannot report yesterday's events yesterday but must do it today.

I did end up doing a tad more than I had thought I would.

Chipped the ice out of the bottom of my freezer. It has been leaking then freezing
so I need to chip it out every couple of days.
Popped in at the church dropped off something for Pastor Anthony and Femke
Went to the N2N bookstore
Dropped in at CCS and picked up more giftcards
Went to No Frills and picked up some good deals
Made a deposit at the bank
Home
Groceries away
Gift cards away
Fold up grocery bags
Laundry sorted and put on
Called Elaine to place next HWAH order
Sorted HWAH stuff from last week and for this coming week
Updated HWAH bus tickets envelope to make sure I have enough for next week. I do
Organized some papers
Cleaned up my purse
Started supper and made enough for tonight as I expect to be late
Cleaned up the frig
Got some garbage and recycling together for tomorrows garbage day
Read the paper
Cleaned the milk bags holder in the frig
Finished up making supper and then came the eating of the aforementioned supper
Cleared of most of the table and prepared the food for today's supper
Went to the church for the first of three visioning meetings
Hung up the washed laundry
Went to bed

Haha good one!

That's how I feel today.
Won't be taking a nap but have the feeling the day may be filled with time wasters.
Will check in at the end of the day (maybe) or tomorrow to report how it went.

ran away from home

Well we didn't exactly run away from home. but it sort of felt like it.
Martin and I decided 3 minutes before we left
to take the afternoon and go to the Woodstock Antique Market.
We weren't looking for anything specific to get.
There were still some household chores to be done.
We left anyways.
I got a chance to see some books for sale but I didn't bring any of them home with me.
On the way back we had supper at The Egg and I (a breakfasty place)

The pictures below have nothing to do with where we went
other than there were books there and there are books in the pictures below.
The pictures below just make me happy.
As do books
