snow way

Really have nothing to complain about in the snow department.
We have had some sprinklings but have not had to do any major shovelling.
But there is now a light dusting out there. Ugh

Yanksgiving

Took Scott and Laura to the airport on Friday so they could jet off to Florida for the American Thanksgiving. I will miss their car song which they often do on their road trips. Sigh.

Orange ya glad?

I have noticed that most maps put
the eastern hemisphere on the left and
the western hemisphere on the right.

I also think Africa is supposed to be quite a bit bigger
but I like the fact that some compostable stuff can look so cool.

walk blog 4

I am also very creative when I am on one of my walks.
Especially when I do not have a pencil with me.
I think mostly of a story to tell.
Ways to word things.
They are brilliant, you know.
If only I had written them down.

walk blog 3

It has been two months since I have committed myself to walking.
I set some goals that I was going to be flexible with but
I was rather unprepared for the joy that I have felt trudging through the streets of Hamilton.
About half way through September I decided to map out the routes I had walked.
The map below is of the first two months.

The black marker means I have gone from home (yellow dot) and back.
The purple marker means I have a different starting point
(ie) I will go for a walk in the middle of shopping.
The blue dots are those starting points.
A green marker signifies the route that started or ended at home but ended or began somewhere else.

Some streets I walk over and over and some I will likely not see again.
In September I hoped to walk at least 36 miles and I did 47.0 miles.
In October I did 72.5 miles.
For me this is rather significant. The keeping of a goal is right up there but the enjoyment that I am getting is remarkable. I do believe that I will eventually cover
every single street on the Hamilton Mountain
(I might limit some of the sidewalkless streets)
Being competitive with myself I just may do it yet.
I hope to get a step recording device over the next while.

I am not much of an 'outside' girl and I probably got more Vitamin D from the last two months
than I did in the first eight months of the year.

I simply should not walk with any snow or ice. I am too unco-ordinated.
But I have walked in rain.
We will see what the future holds in regards to the winter.

In the words of some mighty feisty vegetables
"Keep walking, but you won't knock down our wall
Keep walking, but she isn't gonna to fall!
It's plain to see your brains are very small
To think walking, will be knocking down our wall"
So my walking will not take down a wall...
but sometimes the walls are on the inside
and it is sometimes surprising just what can bring them down.
