gratitude week 20

Friend 2

Well, that then assumes that I have more than one friend,
doesn't it?

I suppose I will pick another long ago friend.

I met Anita Westerhof when I first started grade 9.
We were pretty much inseparable for a couple of years there.

She made the first years of high school
so much better than they would have been without her.
We shared a name and a love of laughter.
She was smarter than I was
and socially way cooler than I was.
But she was my friend anyways.

We hung out during school and all summer long.
We went to the CNE and the Beach Boys concert.

                                    next door locker mates

                                hanging out at school

                                          dress up day

We seemed to drift apart after I started dating Martin.
And over the years it appears that we seemed to have lost touch. Her facebook page doesn't seem current
or else I would make a bit of an effort.
I think that it would be nice to get together
one day to catch up
but neither of us has pursued it yet.

But maybe one day.

Until then, I will always remember,
with gratitude, our friendship.

music and lyrics

I must be a genius
because
sometimes
I occasionally enjoy the music
when I am sad
and
understand the music
when I am happy.

seven years old

My new earworm.
Stuck rattling around in my head.
I checked out a couple of Lukas Graham's videos and two different video's of this song were really well done.
Don't know anything about the singer but love the song. Usually sing the words wrong so thought I would look up the lyrics. Not many songs make me want to go through that effort.
First heard the song on the Newfoundland channel during commercials during Judge Judy.

7 years old

[Chorus 1]
Once I was seven years old my momma told me
Go make yourself some friends or you'll be lonely
Once I was seven years old

[Verse 1]
It was a big big world, but we thought we were bigger
Pushing each other to the limits,

we were learning quicker
By eleven smoking herb and drinking burning liquor

Never rich so we were out to make that steady figure
[Chorus 2]
Once I was eleven years old my daddy told me
Go get yourself a wife or you'll be lonely
Once I was eleven years old

[Verse 2]
I always had that dream like my daddy before me
So I started writing songs, I started writing stories

Something about that glory
just always seemed to bore me
Cause only those I really love will ever really know me

[Chorus 3]
Once I was 20 years old, my story got told
Before the morning sun, when life was lonely
Once I was 20 years old
(Lukas Graham!!!)

[Verse 3]
I only see my goals, I don't believe in failure
Cause I know the smallest voices,

they can make it major
I got my boys with me at least those in favor
And if we don't meet before I leave,

I hope I'll see you later
[Chorus 4]
Once I was 20 years old, my story got told
I was writing about everything, I saw before me
Once I was 20 years old

Soon we'll be 30 years old,
our songs have been sold
We've traveled around the world

and we're still roaming
Soon we'll be 30 years old

[Verse 4]
I'm still learning about life
My woman brought children for me
So I can sing them all my songs
And I can tell them stories
Most of my boys are with me
Some are still out seeking glory
And some I had to leave behind
My brother I'm still sorry

[Bridge]
Soon I'll be 60 years old, my daddy got 61
Remember life and then

your life becomes a better one
I made a man so happy when I wrote a letter once
I hope my children come and visit,

once or twice a month
[Chorus 5]
Soon I'll be 60 years old, will I think the world is cold
Or will I have a lot of children who can warm me
Soon I'll be 60 years old
Soon I'll be 60 years old, will I think the world is cold
Or will I have a lot of children who can hold me
Soon I'll be 60 years old

[Chorus 1 recap]
Once I was seven years old, my momma told me
Go make yourself some friends or you'll be lonely
Once I was seven years old
Once I was seven years old

Another Incredible Art Exhibiition

Timothy DeVries is another artistic member
of the extended Eleveld clan and
his work is currently on display
at the Turner Park Library for the month of June.

Joining him on the wall of fame
(technically around the corner of the wall of fame)
is a another family member.

But who could it be?

Yes Anita has done it again.

And Ta-Da....

 Here it is.

A close up so you can appreciate the intricate detail
